Bryan's Reflection

Day 1
1. Importance of Water— Dirty and Clean

In the first session, we had Professor Ng Wan Jern from the Water Research Institute to address the water crisis man kind is facing in our modern day society.
We learned about the different diseases that could be cause by the polluted waters around the world. We also learnt that Asia will be one of the top consumers of water. Adding on, many parts of Asia does not have access to clean water. Together, we can all make a difference to help everyone :D
2. Revolution of Microelectronics Technology
In our second session which was right after lunch, Professor Yeo Kiat Seng shared his experience and expertise in the area of microelectronics, particularly integrated circuits. He introduced to use some nine areas of integrated circuits, namely: Bio, Radio, Auto, Info, Nano, Hydro, Audio, Video and Energy (m.c^two). He also introduced to use some of the technologies that may happen in the future such as programmable blood and electronic contact lens.
3. Innovative breakthroughs in Nano-Science and Nano-Technology
The third session, lead by Professor Ma Jan he covered three broad areas of science, nano-tech, bio-tech and defence-tech. He also introduced some future technologies which could be common in between the human race in the future such as the bio-adhesive.
4. IT for Animation
This talk conducted by Professor Seah Hock Soon helped us to refresh what we learned in the previous year about animation and at the same time gave us more information such as the fact that 3D animation is actually cheaper compared to 2D animation.
5. "Disappearing glaciers, rising sea levels, and why gravity is even more important than you think"
This final session was conducted by Professor Emma Hill, a geodesist from the Earth Science Laboratory, before the session, I knew that the sea levels around the world was different, however I didn’t know the reason, after this session. I have gained a better understanding.
